Space technologies has already helped benefit Earth in many ways, especially when it comes to communications, Earth observation and even fostering economic growth. Few examples include:
- Space satellites can do much more than simply predict daily weather forecasts. Space systems can save thousands of lives from extreme weather each year. NASA's satellite data was the first to reveal a massive hole in the ozone layer over the South Pole.
- Technologies adapted from space use, like GPS and semiconductor solar cells, have dramatically reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
- Satellite imagery can identify crop yield through a magnified view of each pixel, allowing farmers to understand when to water, fertilize and harvest crops. Satellites are uniquely able to capture and collect data on agricultural areas, which make up 37 percent of Earth's landmass.

WHAT IS A GARAGE48 HACKATHON ALL ABOUT? Hackathon is a weekend-long intensive development event to work out new web and mobile applications or novel services and products and bring new startups into life. The event is open for both university students and already working specialists. We start on Friday with only one goal in mind - to have a working prototype by Sunday to present to the jury. All the teams will be supported by internationally experienced mentors throughout the event.
DOES A HACKATHON WORK ONLINE? YES! Very much so. Garage48 online hackathon is as intense as a physical “getting together” one - hands-on expert mentoring, checkpoints, demo drills, intense teamwork, creativity, and resourcefulness will be the key parts in building working prototypes in just 72 hours.
Garage48 has provided a technical model and all necessary tools for the hackathon to succeed in an online environment - all registered participants will get all the info needed to prepare and take fully part.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
1) Click "Participate" at the hackathon platform and sign up or sign in with your social media profile. You do not need a password - an e-mail address is enough and a sign-in link will be e-mailed to you.
2) Look at the challenges and click "Post Idea" to submit your idea to the hackathon.
3) Add the skills you need in additional team members for your team, so that other participants can join your idea.
*Ideas submission and team formation opens in September 2021!
RULES FOR TEAM FORMATION
The minimum number of participants in a team is 3, the maximum number is ten. As you sign up your idea as an individual participant, to move on to the hackathon, you will need to put together a team around your idea. Each team should consist of an idea owner/team lead, engineer, designer, spacetech field expert or enthusiast.
More important than the rules given by us, is for you to make sure that all the skills are necessary to turn your idea into a working prototype in 48 hours. Please note that all the team members need to register to the hackathon as individuals and only after that they can be added to a team on Eventornado.
WHO WILL OWN MY IDEA?Developed product's IP remains property of the team, who is participating in the program. If any outside party (investors, other companies, governmental organizations) wishes to proceed and acquire the prototype developed during the hackathon, a mutual agreement must be signed about the IP. The organizers, partners and sponsors of the program will not take over any rights or equity in the ideas at the hackathon. The team will agree among themselves on who owns a part of the idea.

Що таке ХАКАТОН GARAGE48?
Хакатон - це інтенсивна подія, розрахована на ефективне проведення впродовж одного вікенду (буквально - два вихідні дні) та присвячена розробці нових веб- і мобільних аплікацій, створенні допоміжних сервісів, додатків та нових послуг і продуктів, а також втілення в життя нових стартапів.
Ця подія є відкритою та доступною для участі як для студентів, так і для вже працюючих спеціалістів. Ми розпочинаємо в п'ятницю тільки з однією спільною задачею - до неділі мати робочий прототип для представлення журі. Усі команди будуть підтримуватись досвідченими наставниками із усього світу протягом всієї події.
ЧИ ПРАЦЮЄ ХАКАТОН ОНЛАЙН?
ТАК! Тільки так і працює. Але онлайн-хакатон Garage48 такий же насичений, як і реальна «офлайн зустріч» - особисте практичне наставництво експертів, контрольні точки, демонстраційні вправи, інтенсивна командна работа, творчий підхід і винахідливість будуть ключовою умовою в створенні робочих прототипів протягом 72 годин.
Garage48 надає технічну модель та усі необхідні деталі для успішного проведення хакатону в онлайн-режимі - всі зареєстровані учасники отримають всю необхідну інформацію для підготовки та участі в повній мірі.
ЯК Я МОЖУ ВЗЯТИ УЧАСТЬ?
1) Натисніть «Брати участь» (Participate) на платформі хакатону і зареєструйтесь або зайдіть в свою соціальну мережу через свій профіль. Пароль не потрібен - достатньо електронної адреси і лінк для входу буде відправлений вам електронною поштою.
2) Перегляньте задачі і тисніть «Опублікувати ідею» ("Post Idea"), щоби відправити свою ідею на хакатон.
3) Додайте необхідні навики в додаткових членів вашої команди (якщо такі є), щоб інші учасники могли приєднатись до вашої ідеї.

ПРАВИЛА ФОРМУВАННЯ КОМАНДИ
Мінімальна кількість учасників у команді троє людей, а максимальна - 10.
Якщо ж ви зареєстрували свою ідею в якості окремого учасника, щоб приєднатись до хакатону вам потрібно буде зібрати команду навколо своєї ідеї. Кожна команда має складатися із ідейного натхненника, тобто так званого власника ідеї, керівника групи, інженера, дизайнера, експерта в галузі космічних технологій або зацікавленого космічними питаннями ентузіаста.
Для вас важливо зрозуміти ці правила, щоб впевнитись у тому, що ви маєте всі необхідні навики, для перетворення вашої ідеї в робочий прототип за 48 годин.
Будь ласка, зверніть увагу, що усім учасникам команди необхідно зареєструватися на хакатон індивідуально (особисто), і лише після цього їх можна буде добавити в команду на "Eventornado".
КОМУ Ж БУДЕ НАЛЕЖАТИ МОЯ ІДЕЯ?
Інтелектуальна власність розробленого продукту залишається власністю команди, що бере участь в програмі. Якщо ж якась стороння особа або зацікавлена сторона (інвестори, меценати, інші компанії, урядові організації) побажають продовжити співпрацю та придбати прототип, створений під час хакатону, потрібно буде де підписати взаємну згоду та юридично обумовити усі нюанси інтелектуальної власності. Організатори, партнери й спонсори програми не привласнюють жодних прав чи долі від участі в ідеях на хакатоні. Команда особисто між собою домовлятиметься про те, кому і яка частина ідеї належить.

Its objective is to actively develop international professional cooperation of Slovakia with relevant actors in the space industry field.
Space Business Innovation Centre Noordwijk
Space Business Innovation Centre Noordwijk supports entrepreneurs that want to launch or improve a product or service that makes use of space technology and data. It is thé hub for space business in The Netherlands. We offer various programs, workshops, and events for every stage of the entrepreneurial journey and give access to an international network, tools, knowledge, and finance. Our most important activity is managing the incubation program of the European Space Agency in The Netherlands, ESA BIC Noordwijk.
Kraków Technology Park
Kraków Technology Park has been co-creating conditions for the development of entrepreneurship for 20 years and it has managed the Technology Incubator for ICT start-ups.
It runs acceleration and incubation programs for Industry 4.0, the gaming sector, and the space sector. Companies may count on the support of seed funds, tax reliefs, and preferential office space rental conditions. The KPT also works with EIT Digital, applies for ESA BIC Poland, and organizes game industry event Digital Dragons.

Belka&Strelka
Belka&Strelka is a small team of space tech geeks and innovation lovers from Odesa, Ukraine. Since 2015, they’ve been hosting NASA Space Apps events and working closely with the local community of astronomers, physicists, and engineers, getting their networking and pitching abilities to the next level. Belka&Strelka hosted a number of space-themed meetups for teenagers and adults in several cities, and for the Odesa Observatory, they hosted a 2-day fundraising festival to help fund a new planetarium.

CyRIC Cyprus Research & Innovation Center Ltd is an internationally award-winning Cyprus-based high-tech company developing breakthrough products for both local and international customers specializing in the fields of IoT/Remote Sensing, Biotechnology, Unmanned Air, and Ground vehicles, Robotics/wearables, and AI/ML. ESA Business Incubation Centres (BICs)
ESA Business Incubation Centres (BICs) are the largest network of space incubators in Europe. The main objective of ESA BICs is to support entrepreneurs with a space-based business idea, thereby creating and growing clusters of space-related start-ups across Europe.
All ESA BIC are managed by local champions who connect their ESA BICs to their local industry, universities, research organizations, government, and investor communities, while also maintaining strong regional/national links. This makes the ESA BICs very well embedded in the local communities as well as the place of choice for all space-related innovation and business.
Tartu Science Park
Tartu Science Park is a platform where start-up companies are nurtured into global businesses. Tartu Observatory
The University of Tartu Tartu Observatory is an institute of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Tartu. Estonian Space Office
Estonian Space Office is the unit established within Enterprise Estonia by the Government of Estonia to facilitate membership in the European Space Agency and related commercial and research ties. In addition, ESO serves as a contact point with the IAF, European Association for the International Space Year (EURISY), and EUMETSAT in procurement-related matters.
Space3ac
Space3ac is a startup accelerator that focuses not only on the business aspects of starting a new venture but also on technologies. Since its start in 2016, Space3ac has supported over 100 startups from various market niches. In 2021 and 2022 Space3ac is conducting a "Poland Prize II" accelerator, which focuses on inviting talents to Poland and supporting them in starting a new company. Slovak Organization for Space Activities
The Slovak Organization for Space Activities was established in 2009 on the initiative of several young people as a civic association.
