  • Tallinn and Valencia join forces to Hack the Future! 🌍💡

    Two powerhouse startup hubs, Tallinn and Valencia, are teaming up to find fresh and bold ideas! City of Tallinn, City of Valencia, e-Residency, and Startup Valencia, in collaboration with Garage48, are excited to present HACK THE FUTURE - a hackathon searching for sustainable and resilient urban solutions that could be implemented in Valencia.

    Hack the Future is an official Latitude59 side event. 🔥

    This is your chance to take your idea to the next level, with the opportunity to receive up to €50K in funding and mentorship to bring your solution to life in Valencia. Be part of a dynamic startup-driven initiative connecting two of Europe’s most forward-thinking tech ecosystems- Tallinn and Valencia.

    The 29th of October 2024 will mark a before and after in the history of Valencia; with over 200 casualties and close to 1 million displaced people, the DANA floods are a huge red flag in how cities will have to deal with climate change and natural disasters. Single efforts won't be enough; we need joint global solutions, and this hackathon is a step in that direction. Join us in building the new, more resilient, and sustainable cities of the future.

    We are looking for both new and already existing projects that could be piloted in Valencia in the following categories:

    🌱 Circular economy - Promoting the reuse of waste and sustainable resource management.
    🚆 Mobility and infrastructure - Implementing innovative mobility services and strengthening the resilience of our transportation system.

    🏙️ Public space recovery - Transforming and optimizing the urban environment.
    🌍 Economic recovery through tourism - Boosting the local economy through innovative experiences, sports, and gastronomy.
    📡 Smart cities and digital transformation - Leveraging technology and data to modernize public services and governance.

    During the hackathon, you will have a chance to collaborate with world-class mentors, connect with other forward-thinking minds, and build sustainable solutions that will make Valencia more resilient towards the environmental crisis. It’s a good opportunity to show your talent, develop your skills, network, and contribute to Valencia's recovery!

    Prizes:

    The three best teams will get the opportunity to pilot their solutions in Valencia from June to October 2025, powered by funding of up to €50,000 to maximize their impact

    The best solutions will be showcased at VDS on October 22-23, 2025, at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, giving them even more opportunities for visibility and growth.

    We are looking for:

    🙍‍♀️🙎‍♂️ Folks with a business background: entrepreneurs and founders who are passionate about making a real change, marketing minds;

    🙍‍♀️🙎‍♂️ Field experts: sustainability, greentech, crisis response experts, and other professionals who would like to put their skills to use;

    🙍‍♀️🙎‍♂️ IT experts: designers, developers, data experts, and other IT experts are needed to develop the solution.

    As well as anyone else passionate about making a change in the fight towards a more sustainable and resilient future!

    By the way, Valencia is considered the best city in the world for expats, combining innovation, collaboration, and quality of life. For the best hackathon teams, it’s the perfect place to test their solution in a progressive, real-world setting. And where better to start than at Latitude59, one of Europe’s hottest startup events, where bold ideas are born and built? 🚀
    Join us in building a sustainable and more resilient Valencia!
