First Garage48 Pärnu 2013 winner Timber Diameter making innovation in timber industry

Very first Garage48 Pärnu 2013 is now successfully over! We are happy to say that with the help of Tech Sisters all together 38 ladies found their way to Garage48 event. On Friday 27 ideas were pitched and 14 projects attracted a team to start intensive work during the whole week-end. Tonight they presented their projects before thousands of viewers worldwide and our own Mr. President Toomas Hendrik Ilves sat in the audience to comment the ideas.

"The idea of bringing more women to Garage48 and IT overall and motivating them started off around half a year ago when we sat together with the Tech Sisters Organization girls and thought why there are so few ladies in IT field. One thing led to the other and we decided to join forces and encourage women to take part in the intensive week-end hackathon preparing them with the pre-events to be ready for this challenge," says Maarika Susi (organizer of Garage48 Pärnu 2013), "And as we could see today at the Pärnu event, ladies are capable and they are interested in taking part:) Our ideal aim was to have at least 30% of the women at the event and we reached our target successfully. All together 38 ladies took part, most of them being new to IT which is just great to see!"
