After the success of last years event. Garage48 returned to Tartu bigger and better than before! Such was the enthusiasm for the event coaches brought participants from both Riga and Tallinn. In total 140 participants from 7 countries took part, forming 18 teams.

Before today’s teams hit the stage to make their final presentations we were very honoured to welcome Taavi Roivas, the Estonian Prime Minister. Who made an encouraging speech to all participants. He stated that “previous Garage48 competitors have joined him on business delegations all around the world”. What better encouragement do you need!?

What makes Garage 48 Hardware and Arts special? Event mentors Rachel Rayns and Ben Nuttal from Raspberry Pi said “The mixture of people from multiple disciplines such as design and marketing help teams to complete their project in a different way to other hackathons. This provides an ambitious, professional environment that encourages teams to continue after the event.” That must be why 6 teams from last year are in business today.

After 48 hours of hard work, all the teams had just 3 minutes to present their ideas to the crowd. If the audience of more than 250 wasn’t nerve-racking enough, knowing more than 2500 were watching online sure was.

Without further ado, here are the results:

Interested in joining us for the next event in Tallinn the 8-10th May? Well we caught up with mentor Martin Melioranski. Who had the following advice for someone thinking of attending the next event “don’t chicken out, come along!  You will be amazed just how much you learn in just 48 hours”!!

But how do you survive 48 hours with little sleep and complete a project. Well we caught up with Oscars Circis from the 1 VILN.IS ONE team. Who despite having just one hours sleep all weekend. Said “when you see you have made progress, it gives you the inspiration and energy you need to continue”.

So mark the 8-10th of May in your diary and get yourself to Tallinn. Don’t be shy, sign up!
