For the first time Garage48 is going to Lebanon and taking talented people from Garage48 community along!

Banque du Liban (BDL) Accelerate 2016 has joined forces with Garage48 and HackingSurgery to organize the first HealthTech Hackathon on November 2, 3, 4 in Beirut, Lebanon. The hackathon is all about realizing ideas about IT apps or platforms that address the health & medical industry.

But what's even better - we are selecting 10-15 talented & kick-ass participants from our Garage48 community in Eastern Europe & Central Asia to fly in with us to the hackathon event, all expenses covered!

BDL Accelerate (http://bdlaccelerate.com/2016/) is the Mediterranean's biggest and most influential conference, attracting over 10,000 attendees from around the world.

We are bringing together 100+ physicians, coders, designers, marketing & business experts from around the world to build innovative and disruptive concepts. Teams will work for 48 hours and deliver a beta-prototype on the final day. The best projects will have the opportunity to be on the main stage at BDL Accelerate Conference.

The Winner of The BDL Accelerate 2016 HealthTech Hackathon will be awarded a $10,000 Cash Prize to continue the development of their idea into a full working IT tool. More prizes and surprises to be announced.

The hackathon will be a very unique experience with the vibrant community energy, top-notch mentors and “no powerpoint” rule. This is your opportunity to disrupt the health & medical industry.

Why Beirut? Why Lebanon?
It's one of the World's Best Cities, also called as "Paris of the Middle East"

“Beirut. The food’s delicious, the people are awesome. It’s a party town… Hopefully, you will come back smarter about the world. You’ll understand a little more about how uninformed people are when they talk about that part of the world. You’ll come back as I did: changed and cautiously hopeful and confused in the best possible way. Travel at its best defies expectations… That’s part of the thing that makes Beirut so interesting.“
-Anthony Bourdain (CNN Host and World Renowned Chef)

“If you’re looking for the real East-meets-West so talked about in the Middle East, you need look no further than Beirut. …Blessed with magnificent mountain vistas, majestic ancient ruins and a people who are resilient, indomitable and renowned for their hospitality, Lebanon rewards the traveller with food for thought and a feast for the senses and the stomach.”
