Qminder proved cooperation between Seedcamp and Garage48 to be successful

October 28, 2011
Garage48 Tartu 2011 winner Qminder won Seedcamp Prague! This is already second team from Garage48 hacking weekend, which becomes a part of the selected ones by most prestigious startup acceleration program in Europe. First company, Campalyst from Riga's event was actually a reason, why Seedcamp was confident enough to partner with Garage48. Since August this year Garage48 can pick one team from each event to be sent directly to Seedcamp. Qminder proved the cooperation to be successful.
By winning Garage48 Tartu Qminder was not granted with Seedcamp ticket by default. All the teams had the chance to get into Seedcamp without application process. Direct access to Seedcamp was given to the team, who achieved most within 4 weeks after the event. Teams had to send weekly reports and based on the progress the winner was announced.

Experience shows, that most of the teams are highly motivated and ready to go on after the weekend. Enthusiasm might last couple of weeks. Teams stick together and are actively working on the project. The change becomes between 2 and 4 weeks after the event, when people realize that there is actually no big progress made compared to the weekend, the idea doesn't look so sexy anymore and do not produce so much adrenaline and endorphins as it used to and daily work/life becomes a priority again. You will find tons of faults and reasons why it will not work. If you haven't made big progress within 4 weeks after your first prototype, you have to take some drastic measures or stop fooling yourself, you are not up for the task.
There are teams, who come trough this. These are the teams, who can compete on global level.

Garage48 is event with many purposes. It's definitely there for networking, exchanging experience and skills. It's good simulation of product development and can be good start for your real startup. Garage48 aims for all of it. If we are talking about real startups, then we do not mean winner of the event, but teams who come trough this. Campalyst and Qminder are two of these, most successful ones from Garage48 so far. We are sure, there are many to come. Read about Campalyst story and The life after 48 hours or how to survive after hackathon by Campalyst leader Jevgenijs Kazanins.

Next Garage48 takes place already in November 18-20, 2011 and we are back in Riga! There are last seats available for developers and designers - register now!
