Top music mentors & sponsors kick off Garage48 Tallinn Music

March 21, 2012
Less than 2 days remain until Garage48 Tallinn Music kicks off. We are all set to go, with almost a hundred participants signed up and tens of interesting music ideas already discussed. All this would not happen without our partners: top music mentors from abroad and our sponsors
Chris Douridas is a 2-time Grammy nominated music supervisor from Santa Monica, California. His work on 1999's American Beauty and 2004's Shrek 2 brought him Grammy nominations. He has been the VP of Music for America Online, overseeing the popular Radio@AOL service. Following his work with AOL, Douridas was hired by Apple's Steve Jobs to be a creative consultant for the launch of the iTunes music store, creating and producing the iTunes Originals series and iTunes Essentials, a popular lifestyle playlist series. Today he is a popular DJ and musical tastemaker at Santa MonicaCalifornia, radio station KCRW, where he hosts a two hour program showcasing progressive new music. He is also a filmmaker and an actor.

David Noël is the Community Evangelist of SoundCloud, the leading social sound sharing platform. SoundCloud enables anyone, anywhere to create and share their sounds on the web. Since joining SoundCloud in May 2009, David has helped its community grow from 100,000 to more than eleven million registered users, a number growing exponentially every day. Leading a team of five Community Managers, his responsibilities lie at the intersections where users meet and interact with the product. David is SoundCloud’s external voice and its users’ internal advocate. Prior to joining SoundCloud, David co-founded a web entertainment startup and has a background in marketing and the music industry, where he worked as an A&R and tour manager. David is a Seedcamp mentor and is passionate about all things tech, start-ups, airplanes, and was named Best Startup Mentor/Advisor of the year at TechCrunch Europe’s The Europas in 2011.

From Finland we will have Juuso Vermasheinä. Juuso is a 30 year old co-founder & CEO of a Helsinki, Finland based startup Flockified. Juuso has his background in the games industry where he cut his teeth in consumer marketing when he was 17 years old. After more than 10 years spent in the games industry Juuso wanted to pursue his passion for live music, love and respect for artists and his geeky crush on marketing technology.
He decided to mix these ingredients up and start his first own company, a music startup called GigsWiz. GigsWiz introduced the concept of using the artists as marketing affiliates for their own shows – paying artists for ticket sales made from their own social media profiles. His new project Flockified, started in late 2011, is all about making consumer group decision process easier. Juuso's team discovered, while selling tickets with GigsWiz, that the cumbersome consumer group decision making process presented a huge barrier-to-purchase for ticket sales.
